Meet Dr Hannah Steven cosmetic and implant dentist in Kilmarnock Troon and Carluke.

I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2015 and spent many years working in Prestwick, where I’ve lived my whole life.

During that time, I gained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. I later undertook further study to achieve a Dental Implant qualification through the Scottish Centre of Excellence in Dentistry, drawing great inspiration from the tutors and mentors who have guided me along the way.

Many dental procedures can be truly life-changing, depending on each individual’s circumstances. My passion lies in getting to know and genuinely caring for the person attached (or soon to be attached!) to the teeth. I take time to fully listen to and hear every patient’s wants and needs so that I can design and deliver a personalised treatment plan that feels right for them, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable and confident throughout their journey.

This approach is especially important when I’m carrying out dental implant treatments. Modern technology allows me to plan and rehearse every detail in advance, always keeping the patient’s ultimate outcome at the heart of the process. Outside of work, I love beach walks with my four-year-old son and our cheeky cockapoo!

Top Tip:
Make sure you don’t rinse after brushing! It still surprises me how many people wash out with water or mouthwash after brushing. Brushing massages fluoride into the teeth to keep them as strong as possible; rinsing just washes it away or dilutes it. You’re doing the hard work but missing out on the full benefit! Simply spit, don’t rinse. If you’d like to use fluoride mouthwash, do it before brushing or as a top-up of the good stuff at another time of day.
